Rice production in the midst of economic development: The case of Jinhua, Zhejiang, China

This report assesses the performance of rice production in intensely cultivated irrigated areas in Zhejiang, China, under a rapidly growing economy. In particular, farmers’ rice production management and marketing practices were determined; rice productivity and profitability examined; government support and policies in the rice sector identified; and best farming practices significantly contributing to rice productivity growth documented.
